Born Sept. 25, 1906, in Jenner Township, daughter of Gabriel and Katie (Kaufman) Berkey. Preceded in death by parents; husband Harry L., Jan. 25, 1962; sons, Carl and Robert; sisters; Elsie Penrod and Leora Berkey; brothers, R.O. Berkey and Clarence Berkey; and daughter-in-law Wanda A. (Kauffman) Horner, June 8, 2002. Survived by these children: Betty J., married to Glenn Smith, Menoher Heights, Johnstown, Duane, Windber, Donald, Friedens, Doris, married to Edmund Horner, Somerset RD, Jack C., Hollsopple RD, James, Markleton, and Thomas, married to Celine Hoffman, Thomas Mills; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters and brother-in-laws, Anna Mary Berky, Arbutus Park, Elmer Horner and wife Betty, and Ellen Wolford, all of Hollsopple RD, and Robert Horner, and wife Nancy, and Mary Horner, all of Boswell RD. Member of Centennial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Avid reader who also enjoyed the numerous activities at Arbutus Park during her 11 year residency. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Route 403 and Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Centennial Church near the North Fork Dam. Rev. Mark A. Griffith officiating. Interment, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.
