"Smokey" Horner, 68, of Boswell RD 1, died Nov. 3, 1976 in Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born June 14, 1908 in Jenner Township, son of William and Savilla Croyle Horner. Preceded in death by his father, his first wife, the former Louise Lohr, an infant son, a brother Harry, a sister Dorothy Eppley and two infant sisters. Survived by his mother of Boswell RD 1, his widow, the former Mary Grace Alwine; children: Harvey R. Sr. married to the former Verna Kaufman, Carol Joy, Ira W., married to the former Rachael Kaufman, Harold J., Wayne E., Kenneth R. and Sue A., all of Boswell RD 1; and three grandchildren, Harvey Jr., Linda, and Sherri Rae Horner. Brother of Louise, widow of Victor Sturtz, Wellersburg; David of Jennerstown; Elmer of Hollsopple RD 2; Ellen, wife of Alton Wolford of Blairsville RD 1; and Robert of Boswell RD 1. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and farmer. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell.
