"Red" Horner, 81, 401 Ohio St., Boswell, died unexpectedly Aug. 15, 1987, at his summer home in Milford, Del. Born Sept. 15, 1905, in Boswell, son of Joseph F. and Bertha A. (Friedline) Horner. Preceded in death by wife, the former Mary E. Begley. Brother of : Kenneth C., Glen Arm, Md.; Ernest D., Boswell; Ethel Hill, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Frank E., Clark, N.J.; Martha Thornton, Mineral Point; Meriam Shomo, Johnstown; and Ada Westerman, Bricktown, N.J. Member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Boswell, where he served on council for several terms. Also secretary of Somerset County Federation of Sportsmen for many years. Retired high school science and woodshop teacher in Hooversville, Confluence, Rockwood and Boswell. Also coached football and wrestling in Boswell schools for many years. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St., Boswell, where service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
