Shank Horner, 70, Jennerstown, dead on arrival July 18, 1983, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept. 26, 1912, in Boswell, daughter of William and Anna (Ober) Letcher. Preceded in death by parents, first husband Karl F. Shank, died 1948; second husband Eugene W. Horner, died 1974; and son William Letcher Shank, died 1972. Survived by one daughter, Lu Ann, wife of George C. Gore, Boswell RD 1; two step-daughters, Anjean, wife of Warren Beener, Hollsopple RD 2; and Bonnie, widow of Ray Peterson, Boswell RD 2; and these grandchildren: William and Rose Marie Shank; Ronalyn Goodge and Robert Gore; Gene Beener and Trina Brougher; Jerry and Terry Peterson. Also five great-grandchildren. Member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Boswell, and Soroptimist International of Somerset County. Founder and former owner of Villa-Ann Candies and recent co-owner of The County Store, both of Jennerstown. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell. Body will be removed to St. Andrew's Church to lie in state from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at 11 a.m., the Rev. Jesse E. Wolf. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
