Horning, 98, Meyersdale, died March 2, 2004, at Meyersdale Medical Center. He was born Feb. 25, 1906, in Meyersdale a son of the late Richard and Ida Mae (Shumaker) Horning. He is preceded in death by his wife, Olive (Berkley) Horning in 1997; a grandson, Sam Beattie Jr., and these brothers and sisters, Henrieta Pifer, Mary Tatterilli, John, William, Harry, Edward, George and Clarence Horning. He is survived by daughter, Sonja, wife of Samuel Beattie Sr., and a granddaughter, Wendy, all of Meyersdale and these stepchildren, Jack and his wife Lorene, and Bill and wife Mary Butler and families and a number of nieces and nephews. He and his wife Olive operated the South Side Curb Market for 20 years. He was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Florida. Friends will be received at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:30 to 2 p.m., the time of service. The Rev. Paul Yoder officiating. Interment will be held in the Union Cemetery. Arrangements in charge of the M.
