Hostetler, 76, Somerset, passed on May 2, 2008, at home. Born June 22, 1931, in New Centerville, he is the son of the late Roy D. and Olive (Shaffer) Hostetler. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Pletcher and Lois Miller; and brothers, Ben, Guy, and Roy "R.D." Hostetler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Bowlby) Hostetler; children, Rick Hostetler and fiancˇe, Sherri Lee, Somerset; Cathy Talley and husband, Mickey, Somerset; Karen Custer and husband, Mark, Somerset; and Jack Hostetler and wife, Marion, Frankfort, Ohio; grandchildren, Richard Hostetler and wife, Jessica; Jason Hostetler and wife, Sarah; Amanda Hostetler; Justin Talley; Cara and Katie Custer; and Leanna Hostetler; great-grandchildren, Venezia and Dean; and nephews, Michael Miller and Carey Hostetler. He was a retired Pennsylvania Department of Transportation employee who previously was a truck driver for Cooper-Jarret Trucking. He enjoyed life to the fullest, particularly wood-carving, putting together ship models, and family get-togethers. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Somerset Church of the Brethren, the Rev. Mark Bendes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Somerset Humane Society or the Somerset Church of the Brethren.
