Born Feb. 9, 1927, in Johnstown, a son of Ernest William and Ruth Blanche (Snably) Hostetler. Preceded in death by parents; son, Lee A. Hostetler, who died Dec. 29, 1980; brother, Duane M. Hostetler and a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Miller. Survived by wife, the former Mary Pauline Engleka to whom he was married 57 years; daughters: Mrs. Paulette R. Shockey, Friedens; Mrs. Glennes A. Miller, Somerset; Mrs. J. Scott (Marlene K.) Putman, Stoystown; nine grandchildren: Mrs. Eric (Brenda) White, Grantham; Mrs. Jonathan (Martha) Boyer, Lambertsville; Mrs. Justus (Kathy) Stull, King George, Va.; Laura Shockey, Friedens; Justin and Kevin Miller, Somerset; and Kara, Jann, and Julie Putman, Stoystown. A 1944 graduate of Somerset High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired in 1991 with 27 years of service as a pattern maker for the Somerset Foundry and Machine Company. He was also an avid gardener and antique postcard collector. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Gerald E. Deffenbaugh officiating.
