Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Other arrangements will appear in Monday's newspaper. Daily American, March 22, 2003 [H1697] HOSTETLER Services for Irene Hostetler, 89 yrs., of County Line Rd., Somerset County will be at Miller Funeral Home in Somerset at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Calling hours were Sunday evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh will deliver the eulogy. Irene passed away after a brief illness in Salem Hospital in Salem Ohio. She was born June 6, 1913 in Middlecreek Twp. She is the daughter of the late Harmar and Minnie Henry Mognet. She was preceded in death in 1984 by her husband of 53 years, Emery B. Hostetler. She is survived by her only daughter, Judy Zettle of East Palestine, Ohio; two grandchildren, Diane Zettle of Dauphin Island, Ala. and Daniel Zettle and his family, Kimberley Coakley Zettle and great-grandson Zachary Daniel Zettle of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She is survived by a brother, Larry Mognet of Johnstown and a sister Martha Countryman of Pensacola, Fla. A brother Dwight Mognet and two sisters Ruby Mognet Sheets and Thelma Mognet are deceased. Irene was a very active member in Somerset County politics. She was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voters Hall of Fame by Gov. Shapp. She never missed an election either Primary or General Election in her entire adult life. She served as Twp. Auditor for a number of years, an elected office and also as a Somerset County Republican Committee Woman. She was the oldest member of the Center Church of the Brethren on County Line Road. She was extremely active in the church for many years, and was a part of the group of people who reopened the old church in the early 1930's and participated in its remodeling and development in the early 1940's. She was well known in area churches where she sang many solos as well as duets with her late friend Alverta Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the church or charity of their choice.
