He suffered a heart attack just before quitting work for the day as a butcher in a Johnstown store. He was born May 13, 1889, near Meyersdale the son of Samuel and Annabelle (Snyder) Hostetler. He is survived by his wife, Leah Webrick Hostetler and these children: Robert, Johnstown; Ernest W., Army captain at Long Branch, N.J.; Mrs. David Shumaker, Mrs. Kenneth Poorbaugh, Johnstown, and Esther and Paul at home. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Minnie Saylor, Meyersdale; Mrs. Mollie Hostetler, Colo, Iowa; and Elmer Hostetler, Akron, Ohio. Services were conducted at H. M. Picking Sons' Funeral Home on October 11 at 2 o'clock by the Rev. John D. Ellis, pastor of the Moxham Church of the Brethren. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, November 4, 1948
