Born Oct. 8, 1913 in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, she is the daughter of the late Silas and Eldora (Nickelson) Dwire. Also preceded in death by one grandson, one great-granddaughter. Brothers: Lloyd, Harry, Clyde, Jack and Dutch, and sisters: Ida, Ester, Leona and Olive. Survived by husband, Jay Earl Houpt, children: Lois Ryan of Mosses Lake, Wash., Kay Munsell of Clark Lake, Mich., Donnie Putman of Rockwood. Stepchildren: Linda Hall of Huston Tex., Lana Smith of Somerset and Elaine Bishop of Winchester, Va. Eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Markleton. She was the last surviving member of the Dwire family. Friends received 7-9 p.m., Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Ronald Thomas and Rev. John Snyder officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery. Daily American, February 9, 2000 [H1770]
