Born Nov. 16, 1917 in Finzel, he was a son of the late John Housel and Alberta (Finzel) Housel. His wife, Mary (Moore) Housel, preceded him in death. He was a member of Plasterers and Cement Masons Union local 296 of Cumberland, a member of Salisbury VFW and Salisbury American Legion and of St. John's United Church of Christ. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are a stepson, Arthur M. Reckner, Bryanstown, Md.; four brothers, Kenneth Housel, Cumberland, Md.; Harry Housel, Paul Housel and Robert Housel, all of Salisbury; four sisters, Mrs. Arvella Tedrow, Salisbury; Mrs. Dorothy Dymond, Grantsville, Md.; Mrs. Pauline Norris, Meyersdale; Mrs. Mary Durst, Salisbury; and Mrs. Rachel Durst, Grantsville, Md. Friends were received at the Thomas Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. Ernest Rumbaugh. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. The Republic, November 9, 1978 [H1811]
