She was born March 24, 1911 in Goodtown (Pine Hill), a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Pletcher) Christner. Also preceded in death by her husband, Peter F. Housel Sr.; daughter, Betty Gnagey; sons-in-law, William Fogel, Donald Cober and Norton Mathers; great grandson, Timmy; and these sisters and brothers: Margaret Albright, Dorothy Ohler, Emma Housel, Clyde, George, John and Albert Christner. Survived by these children: Eleanor Cober, Berlin; Marie Mathers, Meyersdale; Doris, wife of Gerald Oester, Meyersdale; Peter F. Housel Jr., and his wife Gloria Ann, Meyersdale; Verna, wife of Joseph Niedermeyer, Bethel Park; Anna, wife of Lloyd Hamilton, Rex, GA; Clyde Housel, and his wife Terry, Lovettsville, VA; and son-in-law Max Gnagey, Meyersdale. Also 32 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Main Street Brethren Church where she held many offices, was a deaconess, worked for many fund raisers, and was the janitor for many years. She worked cleaning houses for many families in the community and worked as a cleaning lady for the Meyersdale Community Hospital. She is best known to the community for her homemade bread and rolls which she sold weekly. She was very competitive at board games, her favorite being checkers and Chinese checkers, and she rarely lost a game! Friends were received at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale. Funeral service was conducted at the Main Street Brethren Church, with the Rev. Robert Stahl officiating. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery.
