Houser, 64, Plank Road, Somerset died July 26, 1978 in Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born September 5, 1913 in Houtzdale, he was a son of Marie (Kerin) Houser of Somerset and the late Kurtz L. Houser. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Elizabeth) Longridge Houser, two children, William J., Pittsburgh; Nancy H. Walker, Jersey Shore; two brothers, Kurtz L. Jr., Washington and James K., Allison Park. He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Somerset Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset County Firemen's Association, Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, BPOE Lodge 1951 Meyersdale, a member of Home Aide of the Somerset American Legion, Somerset Country Club and a retired employee of the Department of Environmental Resources. Friends were received in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where wake service was conducted. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday was held in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Samuel Tomaselli. Interment, Husband Cemetery. Somerset Fire Department conducted memorial services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to favorite charity.
