Hughes, 71, of Hyndman RD 1, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Sunday, May 14, 1989, at his residence. Born in Broad Top April 14, 1918, he was the son of the late Edward Hughes Sr. and Clara (Dodson) Hughes. He was a retired truck driver for the Old Dominion Trucking Company of Jessup, Md. He was a former pianist and guitarist with the Tussey Mountain Ramblers, a country and western band, and served overseas in the Army in World War II. Survivors include his widow, Loretta A. (Barnett) Hughes; two sons: John Hughes, Baltimore, Md.; and Casey Hughes, Schellsburg; two stepsons: Troy Kisamore Jr., Detroit, Mich., and Sheridee Hughes, Meyersdale; two daughters: Adaline Hughes and Joyce Clayton, both of Baltimore, Md.; two step-daughters: Charlotte Nause, Bedford; and Janet Carbaugh, Millersville, Md.; two brothers: Samuel Hughes and Jesse Hughes, both of Saxton, Md.; five sisters: Ellie Conidine, Huntingdon; Dorothy Boden, Shirleysburg; Rita Corridini, Alexandria; Mayme Brick and Alva Weaverling, both of Hyndman; and 12 grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Ken L. Korns. Interment, Porter Cemetery, near Ellerslie, Md.
