Born April 23, 1918, in Brothersvalley Township. A son of late Charles and Anna (Krevda) Hummel. Also preceded in death by four brothers: Mike, George, John and Andrew, and a sister Mary Veskosky. Survived by his wife, the former Margaret Alice Countryman and children: Frank J. Hummel, of Meyersdale; James T. Pletcher, of Mechanicsburg; and Mrs. Barbara Belcher, of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother of Anna Pyle and Helen Pyle, both of Berlin RD 1. Retired from Johnson Memorial Co. of Meyersdale. Veteran of U.S. Army, WWII. Member of Amity United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 112 and a life member of the DAV. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, with the Rev. Carl Mitchell officiating.
