Born July 22, 1888, in a log cabin near Shanksville, daughter of John and Sara Jane (Spangler) Shank. Preceded in death by husband, Charles, in 1955; son, John, in 1995; son-in-law, Herbert M. Wilson, in 1993, and daughter-in-law, Martha (Zimmerman) Hunter, in 1990. Also sister, Carrie Custer, and brothers, George and Dave Shank. Survived by these children: Ruth T. Wilson, La Vale, Md., and Joe Hunter, Niagara Falls, N.Y., with whom she resided the past four years. Grandchildren: Sally Barmoy and husband, John W., La Vale, Md.; Nancy Smith, Suffield, Ct., and Chuck Hunter and wife, Diane, Clay, N.Y. Ten great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was a direct descendant of Christian Shank, who founded Shanksville. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. Doug Burns. Interment, Walker Cemetery, Shanksville.
