Hurd, 84, of 416 Allegheny St., Boswell, died April 15, 1977 in Doctor's Hospital, Lanham, Md. Born Jan. 9, 1893 in Chest Springs, son of Frederick Alexander and Helena (Krause) Hurd. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Nelle Deeter, and two brothers, John and Charles. Survived by these children: Mrs. Paul (Marylena) Schrock of Bowie, Md.; Charles E. of Haddonfield, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Lovina Conrad of Pasadena, Fla. A retired coal miner, he was a member of the Boswell Presbyterian Church; Somerset Lodge F. and A.M.; New Castle Consistory; Jaffa Shrine, Altoona; Somerset County Shrine Club; UMWA; and the Boswell Housing Authority. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will be removed to the Boswell Presbyterian Church to lie in state from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Carl R. Hull officiating. Interment IOOF Cemetery, Berlin.
