Born June 4, 1919, in Nanty Glo, he is the son of the late Martin Lundy and Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Hurl. Also preceded in death by brothers: Emory and Raymond Hurl and sisters: Neoma Coleman, Betty Heckler and Myrtle Davis. Survived by children: Robert Hurl of Clarksville, Ind., Jean and husband Elwood Kennell of Boswell, Bonnie and husband Roy Wright of Somerset and Martin W. Hurl and wife Jennifer of Meyersdale; grandchildren: Dawn and Woody Kennell, Michael Wright and Kristine Sines and Heidi Pucci; also five great-grandchildren. Member of VFW Post 554, Somerset, Somerset American Legion Post 181, and FOE Aerie 1801. Retired carpenter. U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in the European Theater as a corporal. Friends received from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Graveside service and military rites will be conducted by the Somerset County Honor Guard in the Somerset County Memorial Park following the visitation.
