  Mrs. Madeline Sheppard Hurst, 80, of Meyersdale died Aug. 26 in Meyersdale
  Community Hospital.  Born Jan. 25, 1894, in Meyersdale, a daughter of the
  late David and Josephine Purdy Sheppard.  She is survived by her sister,
  Miss Kate Sheppard of Meyersdale.  She graduated from Meyersdale High
  School and Howard University, Washington, D.C.  She taught in Dunbar High
  School, Washington, D.C. for 40 years.  Friends will be received at the
  Sheppard residence, Meyersdale after 2 p.m. Wednesday where services will
  be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. David Jones, Pastor of St. Francis In
  The Fields.  Interment, Union Cemetery.  Arrangements by the William R.
  Price Funeral Home, Inc.
