Born June 25, 1922, in Grantsville, Md., he is the son of the late Frank and Ida (Durst) Hutzel. He is also preceded in death by one grandson, Lance Nolf; four brothers, Elmer, Mahlon, Thomas and Clark Hutzel and one sister, Freda Lindeman. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Evelyn (Butler) Hutzel; one daughter, Dorothy Broadwater and hus-band, Richard, Grantsville; one son, Elwood "Butch" Hutzel and wife, Beverly, Somerset; one brother, Frank Hutzel, Grantsville; two sisters, Carrie Durst, Grantsville; Verna Hutzel, Salisbury; two grandchildren, Eugene "Chip" Broadwater and wife, Windy; Jessica Patti; six great-grandchildren, Renee Nolf and special friend, Tony Burnsworth, Matthew Handley, Heather Nolf, Joey, Jacob and Anthony Patti; and three great-great-grandchildren, Sadie, Ethan and Julie Burnsworth. Mr. Hutzel was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club, Mountain Top Wagon Train and Garrett County Horsemen's Association. What he enjoyed most in life was his family, all children and his horses. He loved to hunt. He was a construction foreman and superintendent for the Laborer's Local 616. Mr. Hutzel is a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, where a celebration of his life will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Tony Wilburn officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
