"Shorty" Hutzell, 61, West Sanner Street, Somerset, died Sept. 21, 1994, in Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 15, 1933, in Salisbury. Son of the late Christopher and Viola (Butler) Hutzell. Survived by wife, the former Sara Jane Strong, and his mother-in-law, Helen Strong, Somerset. Brother of Naomi, wife of Marvin Donaldson, Garrett; Ferne, wife of Robert Baer, Friedens RD 1, and Paul of Johnstown. Also 10 nieces and nephews including Julie Ann Hutzell, Belle Vernon. Member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church. Veteran of the Korean War; served in the Military Police. A former Rockwood policeman and a former deputy sheriff under Karl Haer. Member of the Somerset Lodge 358, F & AM; the Harrisburg Consistory, and Jaffa Shrine. Past president of the Somerset County Consistory Club. Member of Somerset County Jeep Club and American Legion Post 181, Somerset. Member of the advisory board of Somerset Trust Co. Employed as weighmaster at Somerset quarry of New Enterprise Stone and Lime. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (today) at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis in the Fields Church, Rev. Father Austin Hurd officiating. Interment, IOOF Cemetery, Rockwood. No viewing at the church. Somerset Lodge 358, F& AM, will conduct memorial service in funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to In Touch Hospice, 651 S. Center Ave., Somerset, PA 15501.
