Ickes, 72, of 5033 Broad Ave., Juniata, died unexpectedly June 20, 1981, in his home, apparently of a heart attack. He was born Oct. 7, 1908, in Somerset County, the son of George and Nettie (Imler) Ickes. He is survived by his wife Wanda B. (Hawke) Ickes, and six brothers and sisters, Paul, of Mary Esther, Fla.; Ramson, of Kingsville, Md.; Fredderich, of Street, Md.; Clark, of Johnstown; Mrs. Beatrice Stein, of Salisbury and Mrs. Anna Burkholder, of Confluence. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ross, who died Feb. 9, 1981. He as retired, on disability as a machinist and welder from the Juniata shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1972, after 46 years' service; was a member of the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church. Friends were received at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, where funeral services were held Wednesday, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Hafner officiating.
