"Chuck" Ickes, 70, of 21 Hollow Road, Ogletown, formerly of Sidman and South Fork, died Dec. 31, 1992, at the home of devoted friend, Betty Homer. He was born May 19, 1922, in Claysburg, son of the late Ralph E. and Jennie (Stein) Ickes. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Kirshner, who died April 12, 1992; sister, Violet Myers, and brother, Harold. Survived by these children: Charles Jr., married to the former Janet Brown, and William, married to the former Diane Zuccolotto, both of Meyersdale; Dennis, married to the former Penny King of Rockwood; T. Sgt. Donald, married to the former Betty Clower of Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.; S. Sgt. Mark, married to the former Lois St. Clair of Rockwood; Bruce of Thurmont, Md., and Shelley, wife of Dale Miller, Berlin; also survived by 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother of Martha Hoyer of Ohio, Harry of Sidman, Melvin of New York, Betty Progar of Kansas, Virginia Daley of Ohio, and Vera Shilcosky and Bill, both of Sidman. Member of Windber Eagles, South Fork VFW Post 7524 and St. Michael American Legion Post 551. Army veteran of World War II. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Meek Funeral Home, Inc., Windber, where service will be held 11 am. Monday, with the Rev. Kermit Jones officiating. Interment, Mt.
