ICKES February 16, 1920-May 25, 2003 Frederiek G. Ickes, age 83 years, of Street, Md., died at his home at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2003. He was the husband of Lorayne (Miller) Ickes. They observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 5, 2003. Mr. Ickes was born in Meyersdale, Somerset County, Pa., on February 16, 1920 and is the last surviving of thirteen children of the late George E. and Nettie (Imler) Ickes. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacifie Theater. Mr. Ickes was discharged in 1952 after serving again during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Darlington-Dublin Post 10146, V.F.W., Street; and the American Legion Harford Post #39, Bel Air, Md. He retired in 1982 after more than 25 years employment as a lathe operator at the former Armco Steel Company in Baltimore, Md. He and his wife moved to Harford County from Baltimore in 1962. He was a member of the church of the Ascension, Street, for over 35 years where he had served several terms as a vestryman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons: Clark F. Ickes of York, Pa.; and Jerry L. Ickes of Street. Also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 29, (today) at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pa. Funeral services will he held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, at the Church of the Ascension, Dublin Road, Street. The rector; Reverend Richard I. ZumBrunnen and Deacon Sarah E. Standford will offieiate, Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Daily American, May 29, 2003
