Ernest "Bud" Illmer, 88, Ligonier, died Jan. 2, 2006, at St. Anne Home, Greensburg. He was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Staten Island, N.Y., a son of the late Victor and Elsie Barron Illmer. Bud was raised in Somerset County by his aunt and uncle, Edgar and Lottie Pyle. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emily Illmer Gelperin; and daughter, Kirstan J. Burke in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret J. "Toddy" Illmer; two daughters, Gretchen J. Jacobs and Kim I. Shaffer and her husband, John, all of Ligonier; grand-children, Jeffrey Jacobs, Atlanta, Ga.; Jennifer Bevelacqua and husband, Robert, Woodbridge, Va.; Joanna Jacobs, New York; and Lindsay Shaffer with the U.S. Army, Germany; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Giuliana Bevelacqua, Woodbridge, Va. He was the founder of Ligonier Auto Parts Co. in 1947. He is a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Bud was past president of the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce and a member and past chairman of the Ligonier Municipal Authority. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Snyder Funeral Home Inc. & Crematory, Bell and E. Church St., Ligonier. The Rev. William M. Oesterlin officiating.
