Irwin Edgar Newton Irwin, aged 64, died at his home in the Goodstein-Balis apartments, Somerset, Tuesday evening at 10:30 of a heart attack. Mr. Irwin, a native of Center County, had worked during the day in the offices of the coal interests of H. C. Beerits' Sons in the Beerits Building. He was manager of the Beerits coal offices. He was stricken shortly before he expired. Mr. Irwin went to Somerset about 20 years ago from Meyersdale where he had been connected with the electric light plant, property of the Wilmoth family. Prior to that, he had been employed by the Wilmoth Lumber Company in West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Irwin and the following children: James Irwin, Morgantown, W.Va.; William F. Irwin, Berkley, California; Elizabeth, Mrs. O. L. Gallagher, Somerset; Martha, Mrs. H. L. Dial, Birmingham, Ala.; Richard L., of Berkley, California, and Miss Maye, at home. Nine grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday evening at 7 at his home in Somerset. The Rev. E. V. May, pastor of the Somerset Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow Saturday afternoon in a cemetery in Bellefonte, Center County, near his family home. Masonic services will be conducted at the graveside. Meyersdale Republican, February 1, 1940
