Irwin, 76, of Meyersdale, formerly of Philadelphia, died Aug. 15, 1994, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born Sept. 20, 1917, in Belltown. Preceded in death by son, Jimmie Jr.; parents, James and Ruth (Herring) Irwin; brothers, Jack and Kenneth, and sister, Thelma Mae Bittner. Survived by wife Doris (Uetz) of 50 years, and daughter, Diane Lynn James, wife of Larry R. James, Newport News, Va.; grandsons, Tony Sznoluch, Washington, D.C.; James P. Sznoluch, Newport News, Va., and step-grandchildren, Jacqueline and Ligon James, Newport News. Also survived by brother, E. William; nephews, Dr. Jeffrey, Ronald and Richard Irwin and William Bittner, Meyersdale; Michael and James Irwin, Portland, Ore.; nieces, Mardiann (Irwin) Hunsberger, Meyersdale; Mary Lee (Bittner) Schmidt, Supply, N.C., and Julie Ann Irwin, Portland, Ore.; cousins, Lawrence L. Herring, Springfield, Delaware. County; Michael and Richard Irwin, Somerset; Ralph (Sonny) Herring, Meyersdale; aunt, Maude Herring, Rest Assured Living Center, Wellersburg; uncle, Roy Herring, Grantsville. Md. A former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olney, Philadelphia; member of the 'Oldtimers,' Scout Troop 203, the Eagle Scout troop; Dean of Merit Badges, Boy Scouts of America 1958, 59, 60 and 61, Philadelphia. Veteran of World War II. Former administrator of 'Kresheim,' a Study Center, Board of Christian Education, United Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Chestnut Hill, Pa. He was a menu-planner-cook for the Proctor-Silex facilities in King of Prussia, Pa. He was a retired carving-chef from Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Champion. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Meyersdale; an associate member of the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Meyersdale Masonic Lodge 54. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Building Fund, First United Methodist Church of Meyersdale, Pa. 15552.
