Born Sept. 20, 1914, in Beaverdale, daughter of Frank and Ellen Steen. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Dwight, on Sept. 20, 1991; and brother, William " Bill." Survived by children, Dwight " Jake" and " Dites," married to the former Nancy Null, Johnstown; Edmund " Jake" and " Eddie," Harrisburg; and Penelope " Penny," married to Joseph M. Sopich, Boswell; grand-children, Tim Jacobs, married to the former Anita Pro; Richard Jacobs, married to the former Annie Locher; Scott Jacobs, married to the former Trudy Pallof; Michael Sopich, married to the former Barbara Stutzman; and Danielle Sopich, and special friend, Michael P. Pyle; and great-grandchildren, Justin Fogle Sopich and Kara, Devon, Cheyenne and Paden Jacobs. Member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boswell, where she was treasurer of the Sunday school church and the Friendly Bible Sunday school class and a member of the Knotty Ladies. Past president and vice president of the Boswell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Past president of the Somerset County Firemen's Auxiliary. She worked for the Boswell Election Board and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drive for many years. Graduate of Conemaugh School of Nursing. A registered nurse with Somerset Hospital for 23 years and retired after 25 years from the Medical Associates of Boswell under Dr. deVries. She spent her spare time quilting, knotting quilts, crocheting and reading her Bible and Scripture. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the church and with people coming and going while she was working at the Medical Associates of Boswell. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where a Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.
