James, M.D., 79, of Hooversville, died Jan. 2 in Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Aug. 13, 1892 in Butler County, the son of Evan and Anna (Van Horne) James. He is survived by his widow, the former Margaret Veil; a son, Jerry Veil James of Somerset; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Morgan of Winber and Mrs. Elsie Melis of Pittsburgh; and one brother, Frank of Florida. He was a graduate of The Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia and practiced medicine in Hooversville since 1920. He was a staff member of Memorial Hospital, Johnstown and Somerset Community Hospital, Somerset. He was a member of the American Medical Asociation, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, Pennsylvania, Thoracic Society, American Association of Railway Surgeons and past presient of the Somerset County Medical Director from 1939 to 1904, he was clinician for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, T. B. Clinic until his retirement in 1967. He ws a life member of Somerset Lodge 358 F. and A. M. Williamsport Consisory, Jaffa Shrine Temple and the Somerset County shrine Club.
