Born Nov. 24, 1892, in Scalp Level. Daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Jane (Buchanan) Veil. Preceded in death by parents; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Bess) Miller, and three brothers, Ralph, John Wesley and Henry Poling. She was the last surviving member of the immediate Veil family. She was the widow of Dr. Jerry M. James, a general practitioner for 52 years in Somerset and Cambria Counties. Survived by son, Jerry Veil, married to the former Dorothy Reis, Somerset, and three grandchildren, Jerry M., M. Veil, and Alan R. she was a 1913 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught school in her hometown until her marriage in 1921. A member of Johnstown Art League, Johnstown Garden Club and life member of Eastern Star. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the John Hederson Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown. Graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Somerset Coutny Memorial Park, with Rev. H. James Meyers of officiating. Conributions may be given to the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber.
