James Jr., 73, West Garrett St., Somerset, died Dec. 29, 1983, in Windber Hospice, Windber Hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Taylor, Pa., a son of the late William C. Sr. and Lottie (Bray) James. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Knepper; Calif.; and Mary Ann, wife of Wilson Sorber, Somerset RD 1; four grandchildren. Also a sister, Alice White, Flint, Mich. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Prior to being elected Somerset Mayor in 1973, he was a borough councilman. He was civil defense director of Somerset County and borad member of the Somerset County Fair Association. Retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, where he served as yardmaster in Johnstown. He was a honorary member of the F.O.P. Funeral arrangements incomplete, in charge of Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. JAMES Funeral servives for Somerset Mayor William C. James Jr. will be conducted Monday 10:30 a.m. in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
