(Mayko) 03/16/07 Daily American Anna M. (Mayko) Janus, 93, Shaffer Road, Somerset Pike, went to be with the Lord March 15, 2007, at Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate, following a brief illness. Born May 1, 1913, in Adamsburg, Westmoreland County, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Pohanka) Mayko. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph J. Sr. on Nov. 12, 1972; son, Joseph J. Jr. " Jay" on May 14, 1979; and two brothers, John and Joseph Mayko. Survived by daughter, Ruth J., married to Samuel Romesburg Jr., Rockwood; four grandchildren, Joseph J. Janus III and Judy Janus, both of Colorado; Amy (Romesburg), married to Gregory Sloan, Frederick, Md.; and Samuel J. Romesburg III, married to Ruth Rhodes, Rockwood; nine great-grandchildren, Joseph, Caricia, Justin, Sara, Tyler, Chris, Katy, Abby and Emma; and brother, Rudolph Mayko, Widbey Island, Wash. Graduate of former Boswell High School and Cambria-Rowe Business College. Later she established her home of which she was very proud and lived there the remainder of her life. Anna worked as a homemaker and seamstress, but was best known as a Somerset County auditor during the 1970s. She was extremely dedicated to her family and was a talented individual who spent her time doing crafts and mastering the arts of knitting and cro-cheting. Traveling throughout the United States and abroad was a great enjoyment. Was a dedicated longtime member of Benscreek Evangelical Lutheran Church near Thomas Mills, where she had been a choir member for many years. Viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service 1 p.m. Sunday at Benscreek Church. The Rev. Larry C. Hoover will officiate. Interment Lutheran Cemetery, Jennerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St., Somerset, PA 15501 or Benscreek Lutheran Church, 4459 Somerset Pike, Hollsopple, PA 15935.
