Janus Jr., 43, of Missoula, Mont., and formerly of Somerset Pike, Johnstown RD 7, died May 14, 1979, at Community Medical Center, Missoula, Mont. Born Jan. 22, 1936, in Johnstown, he was a son of Joseph J. Sr. and Anna M. (Mayko) Janus. He was preceded in death by father, who died Nov. 13, 1972. He is survived by his mother, Johnstown RD 7; son, Joseph J. III, and daughter, Judith J., both at home; sister, Ruth J., wife of Samuel Romesburg Jr. of Rockwood RD 3; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. May Mayko of Johnstown RD 7. He was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Johnstown; member U.S. Forestry Service, Missoula, Mont. He taught school in Meyersdale for 13 years, moved to Missoula in 1975, was a smoke jumper for U.S. Forestry Service since 1956. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pa., attended Penn State University and University of West Virginia, received master's degree from University of Montana. Friends were received at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell. Funeral service was held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Boswell, with the Rev. George A. Clark and the Rev. Arthur L. Mentzer officiating.
