JEFFERY Mrs. Margaret Janet Jeffery, a former well known resident of Salisbury, died at her home in Struthers, Ohio, a suburb of Youngstown, May 30, 1941. Her death was caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Jeffery was born in Barton, Md., Feb. 22, 1871, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cochrane. Her father was among the earlier coal mine operators at the southern end of the Meyersdale-Elk Lick Coal region, and located in West Salisbury about the year 1879. Her husband, the late Jesse T. Jeffery, was in the grocery business in Salisbury for some years, but preceded her in death more than 25 years ago. A son, Richard, also preceded her in death, and she is survived by a daughter, Leora, wife of Thomas Ashurst, and a son, Glenn Jeffery, both of Struthers. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. John Cunningham, also a former resident of Salisbury, who at that time was Mrs. Frank Livengood. A funeral service was held at Mrs. Jeffery's home in Struthers, at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1st conducted by Rev. A. L. Gordon. Her body was brought to Salisbury, Monday afternoon, and interred in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, Salisbury mortician. A second service was conducted at the graveside by Rev. L. A. Gordon, and the obsequies were attended by local relatives and friends, and some from Ohio and other places.
