All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JOSEPH JEFFERYS Joseph Jefferys, a well known citizen of Garrett County, Maryland, died at his home, September 4th, 1932 at 8:15 p.m. at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 13 days. Mr. Jefferys, a son of the late Wesley and Lydia Jefferys, was born in Addison, Pennsylvania, May 22, 1858. He was married to Mathilda Neil, in Oakland, Md., September 26, 1889. He is survived by his wife, four children, five grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers. When a young man he joined the Christian Church, of Addison, Pa. Mr. Jefferys was a miller for many years. The latter part of his life was spent in farming and as Road Supervisor. He had many friends, who knew him to be an honest, hard-working man. He was a kind husband and father, he lived a Christian life and arranged for his children to receive a Christian education. Services were conducted by Rev. H. H. Fickenscher, pastor of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Cove, Md., who visited Mr. Jefferys frequently during his illness. Interment was made in St. John's Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Cove, Md., on September 7th. The funeral was largely attended, and floral pieces were beautiful. Meyersdale Republican, September 15, 1932
