Johnson, 61, of 223 Stoystown Road, Somerset, died March 11, 1989, in an airplane crash in Manasses, Va. Born Aug. 10, 1927, in Somerset, son of the late Ralph and Loretta (Kunkle) Johnson. Survived by one son Jeffrey L., of Somerset RD 6; two grandchildren, Adam and Gwen. Brother of: Galen of Somerset; Donald of Somerset RD 2; Ruth of Akron, Ohio; Irene Gollehan of Florida; Clyde of Chambersburg; and Jay of Lancaster, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; New York Life insurance agent in Somerset for 34 years, also a member of the New York Life Insurance Presidents' Council and the Million Dollar Round Table. Member of the Somerset Country Club; past president of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce; member of Somerset Church of the Brethren and Samuel S. Crouse American Legion Post 181. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. Roger Forrey officiating.
