Johnson, 76, 295 Cumberland St., Berlin, died Aug. 1, 1985, at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Aug. 13, 1908, in Berlin, he was a son of John N. and Rebecca (Heinemeyer) Johnson. Preceded in death by parents; his wife, the former Dorothy Thomas who died in 1982; an infant son; and brothers, Alfred and Walter. Survived by a son, J. Theodore, Berlin; and five grandchildren, David, John, Mark, Lori and Matthew Johnson. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander in the W. W. II and after the war served as Commander of Surface Division 447 in Johnstown of the Naval Reserve. Member of Harry Fisher Post 445 American Legion and Robert Walker Post 7295 V.F.W., Berlin. He was past president and member of the board of directors of Philson National Bank, past president and member of the Berlin Lions Club, and past president and member of the Somerset County Development Council. He was also a member of the Berlin Water Authority and Berlin volunteer Fire Department. He was a former partner of the Johnson and Son Funeral Home and Johnson and Son Ethan Allen Gallery. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Kenneth S. Swanson officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Contributions in his memory made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
