He was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Garrett, a son of the late Adam and Alice (Albright) Johnson. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson Kyle Oaks, two sisters, Thelma and Pauline, and two brothers, Lester and Earl (Bud). He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Engle) Johnson and these children: Delores, married to Bryan Maust of Garrett, Sherry, married to Dwayne Miller of Garrett, Mike Johnson, married to Romi (Brown) of Garrett, Steve Johnson of Meyersdale, and Missy, married to Eugene Oakes of Garrett and these grandchildren: Kenny Lowery Jr. of Garrett, Julie (Miller) and her husband, Jeremiah Weimer of Meyersdale, Joshua Miller of Garrett, Michael Johnson of Garrett, Adam Johnson of Newport News, Va., Katie Johnson of Garrett, and Andrew Oakes of Garrett, and these great-grandchildren: Michael (Walker) Lowery, son of Kenny Lowery Jr. and Jasmine Weimer, daughter of Julie and Jeremiah Weimer. He is also survived by two sisters, Luella Decker and Mabel Schrock. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Charles E. Kelly Post 112, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Friends will be received at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home on 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Pentecostal Apostolic Church, Garrett. The Rev. Donald Engle officiating. Interment will be held in the Center Church Cemetery.
