Johnston, 71, of Jenners, died March 10, 1982, at Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 9, 1910, in Somerset County, son of Eliphus B. and Mary Anna (Wadsworth) Johnston. Preceded in death by parents, son Ralph, who died July 31, 1980, nine brothers and two sisters. Survived by widow, the former Edith R. Ogline; and these children: Dorothy, wife of Larry Dixon, Stoystown RD 1; Patricia, at home; Mary, wife of Jack Wagner, Central City RD 1; Richard, married to the former Doreen Colbert, Salem, Ohio; Doris, wife of Albert Lape, Jerome; Jennie, wife of Robert Swarner, Somerset RD 7; Janet, wife of Bruce Baker, Boswell; Linda, wife of James Shepley, Stoystown RD 1; and Larry, at home; 22 grandchildren, including James Johnston, at home; also two great-grandchildren. Brother of: Albert, Boswell; Alfred, Jenners; and Robert, Johnstown. Charter member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Member of Tire Hill Local 998 UMWA and honorary member of Boswell volunteer Fire Dept. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Chauncey J. Ickes.
