JOHNSTON Franklin Benjamin Johnston, 88, Grantsville, MD, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1989, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md. Born Feb. 14, 1901, in Swanton, Md., he was a son of the late Silas P. and Rose (Sweitzer) Johnston. He was a retired trackman for the B&O Railroad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Milfred (Comp) Johnston in 1947. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Baker, Grantsville, Md.; one brother, James Johnston, Mountain Lake Park, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Durst, Warren, Ohio; and Mrs. Elsie Hetrick, Akron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, Md., where services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Pastor Louise Knotts. Interment, George Cemetery, Swanton, Md.
