Johnston, a former resident of Meyersdale, and well-remembered through frequent visits here after he moved away, died July 22 in the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Washington, D.C., where he had lived since the death of his wife about seven years ago. Mrs. Johnston was a native of Summit Mills, the former Miss Laura Wagner, daughter of Philip and Elizabeth (McDivid) Wagner, both long deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston were a very congenial and happy couple and had a host of friends in Somerset County, as well as in Washington, D.C., where they lived for many years. Mr. Johnston was born in Philadelphia, May 22, 1862, and was aged 81 years and two months when he passed away. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George Snow, California, Mrs. Stanley Marean of Idaho, and Mrs. Wiant, New Jersey. Meyersdale Republican, August 5, 1943
