Jones, 51, of Champion, formerly of Windber went home to be with her Lord, June 27, 2002 following a pedestrian/vehicle accident in Kentucky. She was born Feb. 19, 1951 in Johnstown, a daughter of the Rev. Kermit L. Jones of Windber and the late Druscilla (Trent) Jones. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Jones, and a brother-in-law, Charlie. In addition to her father she is survived by her sisters: Joy Miller and her husband Lee; Ruby Mader and her husband Jay, all of Windber; Cynthia Ritenour and her husband Wendell "John" of Champion. She was a beloved aunt to Alana and Charles Moore, Jason and Leroy Miller, Jr.; Melissa McCoy and her husband Dan; Abby Mader and Wendy and Keith Ritenour. She was a great-aunt to Tiler and Matthew. She was a 1969 graduate of Windber Area High School and a 1997 graduate of Westmoreland County Community College. Karen was employed for 22 years at the Babcock Lumber in Champion. She was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, where she served as choir director, Sunday School teacher, pianist and on various committees. Karen was also a licensed lay speaker in the Church of the Brethren and served the denomination as district Heifer Project Coordinator and nationally on "Standing Committee." She was in Kentucky serving at Annual Conference at the time of the accident. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711 Melcroft. Friends will then be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Meek Funeral Home 1312 Graham Ave., Windber. Additional viewing will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. the hour of a funeral service, in the Rummel Church of the Brethren, Windber, with Rev. Barry Conn officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Berkey Cemetery, Windber. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Karen's memory to the Church of the Brethren Home in Windber or to the County Line Church of the Brethren, Champion.
