JONES Evangelist's Son Dies in Indiana Thomas A. Jones, Formerly of Meyersdale, Passed Away Suddenly Thomas Arthur Jones, 42, a son of the famous Rev. Azuba Jones, and a former resident of Meyersdale, died suddenly Saturday in Valparaiso, Ind., where he resided for the last eighteen years. Mr. Jones had undergone an appendectomy in the Valparaiso hospital and was preparing to leave for his home when he dropped dead. His mother, Rev. Azuba Jones, now a resident of Johnstown, is the only woman ever licensed to preach by the Pittsburgh Conference of the Evangelical Church. In addition to his mother, Mr. Jones leaves his widow, Mrs. Gertrude (Winslow) Jones, and three children. His father, Evan T. Jones, died in Johnstown about four years ago, and a sister, Miss Anna Louise, died two years ago. Mr. Jones was a deacon of the Christian Church of Valparaiso, Ind., and an officer in the I.O.O.F. lodge. Meyersdale Republican, March 19, 1942
