Jones, 82, West Patriot St., Somerset, died Dec. 28, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1893, in Somerset, a son of Brinker P. and Bee (Walter) Jones. Survived by his wife, Bernadette (Crowe) Jones, two sons; J. Richard of Mechanicsburg, J. Donald of Lancaster, four grandchildren: James, Richard, Pamela, and Carol; also one sister, Elizabeth, wife of Joseph R. Blackburn of Charleston, W. Va. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I serving in Company C 110th Infantry 28th Division and was a prisoner of war. Also a member of Somerset Volunteer Fire Company, Somerset American Legion Post 181. He belonged to the Legion of Valor and received the Distinguished Service Cross in World War I. He was a retired employe (sic) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. the Rev. Arnold Castner officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery. Somerset American, December 29, 1975 [J0306]
