He was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Tarrs, a son of Sara (Tarr) Kalp of Tarrs RD 3 and the late Russell Irvin Kalp Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict, and a life member of the Somerset American Legion Post No. 181. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son Randall A.; a grandson, Ronald W. Geckle Jr.; and a nephew, Kevin Miedel. He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Cupp Kalp of Somerset; four sons, Darwin Jr. of Indian Head; Jeffrey of Caswine, Germany; Mark A., and John A., both at home; four daughters, Mrs. Dana Geckle of Greensburg; Mrs. Robb (Corinne) Landy of Mt. Pleasant RD 2; Kristin L., and Tracey S., both at home; two brothers, Russell Kalp Jr., of Ruffsdale; and the Rev. Larry Kalp of Stanhope, N.J.; numerous grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Luther J. Grimm Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Penney S. Adams officiating. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.
