Kaniak, 65, of 61 Quemahoning St., Boswell died Dec. 11, 1977 in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Feb. 18, 1912 in Boswell, he was the son of Benedict and Mary (Zida) Kaniak. He was preceded in death by parents, his first wife, the former Agnes Friskie, who died September 17, 1963, his second wife, the former Frances M. (Policicchio) Frank, who died November 7, 1975, a daughter Mrs. Agnes J. Baird, who died August 3, 1974, four brothers: Rudy, Louie, Ben and Stanley and one infant sister. He is survived by two daughters: JoAnne, wife of Leonard Jerin, Barberton, Ohio; Mary Ann, wife of Leo DeLuca, Boswell; two stepsons, Samuel J. Frank Jr., Pittsburgh; Raymond M. Frank, Rochester, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of Mrs. Elizabeth Randle, Chicago; and John, Somerset. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Boswell; Council 4067, Knights of Columbus, Windber Catholic Knights of St. George, Pittsburgh; fourth degree member of the Johnstown Assembly of the Knights of Columbus; Jenners local 1742 United Mine Workers; Somerset County Old Timers Baseball Association; Jenner Rod and Gun Club; and honorary member of local 250 International Brotherhood of the Teamsters. He was a retired miner and former employee of the state Tumpike Commission, Somerset. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell. The Knights of Columbus will recite rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday and wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Boswell with the Rev. Samuel Tomaselli. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The fourth degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard between 7 and 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Daily American, December 13, 1977 [K0073]
