(Hauger) Kasper, 56, of Wethersfield, died March 31, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. She was born in Somerset, and resided in Newington prior to moving to Wethersfield 21 years ago. Survived by her husband Chester J. Kasper Jr.; son, Chester J. Kasper III, and daughter, Kimberly C. Kasper, both of Wethersfield; sister, Nancy, Rayman and her husband, Fred of Friedens; mother-in-law, Grace Kasper of Newington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peter and Peg Lozis and Gail and Terry Sullivan, all of Newington, and Richard Kasper of Wethersfield; nieces and nephews, Peter Lozis III, and his wife, Jill, Paul Lozis, Pamela Lozis, Katherine Conor and Elizabeth Sullivan; and her dear friend, Judy Reno of Wethersfield. Carol's great love for children led her to a career as a special education teacher in the Wethersfield school system, serving in that capacity at both the Emerson-Williams School and later at Highcrest School. In 1974, she paused to raise her family resuming her teaching in 1989 only to be forced into retirement in 1996 due to illness. Carol was a member of the Church of the Incarnation, the Wethersfield Book Club, the Wethersfield Country Club and its Nine Hole Club. She was very active in the arts, painting and water coloring, and for many years was known as "Marshmallow Fluff" in her world of puppeteering. Friends and relatives are invited to call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, where funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield.
