Kauffman, a retired farmer of Curryville, Blair County, Pa., who was well known by many readers of this newspaper, died on March 5th, in the Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, Pa. His death was due to a heart condition which had impaired his health for some time. He expired in his 71st year, having been born April 25, 1874, near Curryville, and was engaged in farming all of his active life, for many years on a farm near Bossler Station, Blair County, until 1919, when he moved to the Stonerock farm near Curryville where he continued farming until six years ago when he retired and bought a residence property in the village of Curryville, where he had his home the remainder of his life. Mr. Kauffman was twice married. His first marriage in 1899 was to Julyanne Kinsinger who died in 1930. A daughter and three sons were the fruit of this union, of whom the daughter, Mrs. Martha Keim, of Martinsburg, Pa., survives. His second wife was Mrs. Mabel Maust of Springs, Somerset County, Pa., whom he married April 23, 1931, and who survives along with the daughter, Mrs. Keim, above mentioned, and also these step-daughters: Mrs. Roy Otto, and Mrs. George Yoder of Springs and Mrs. Paul Mowery of Denver, Pa. Surviving also are three grandsons, Leroy, Carl and Jon Keim of Martinsburg, and six step-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Keith, living near Curryville. Mr. Kauffman was a member of the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church near Bossler Station for many years and for thirty years was treasurer of the congregation. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, March 7, in the Martinsburg Mennonite Church, in charge of Rev. Walter Otto, of Springs, assisted by Rev. Robert E. Miller and Rev. C. A. Graybill of Martinsburg. Burial was made in the Kauffman cemetery near the Pleasant Grove church. Meyersdale Republican, March 15, 1945
