Born in Quemahoning Township, he had lived in Somerset before moving to Lakewood eight years ago. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Yvonne Hechler Kaufman; two, daughters, Joan Melofchik, Monmouth Beach, N.J.; and Donna Kaufman, Red Bank, N.J.; two brothers, John Kaufman and James Kaufman, both of Boswell; three sisters, Daisy Kocher, Johnstown, and twin sister Hazel Mishler, and Mildred Liska, both of Boswell. He was a state employee for the Somerset Armory. Prior to that he ran the family dairy farm. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lakewood, N.J. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the Christ United Methodist Church North Lake Drive and Fifth Avenue, Lakewood, N.J. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery, Jennerstown. There will be no visiting hours. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, N.J., is in charge of the arrangements.
