Kaufman, 82, formerly of Boswell RD 2, died Jan. 19, 1983, at Westmoreland County Hospital, Greensburg. Born Feb. 21, 1900, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, son of John M. and Elizabeth Ann (Shaffer) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Dora Mabel Saylor, who died July 22, 1975; infant daughter, Ruth Elizabeth; and sister, Edna Miltenberger. Survived by these children: E. Kenneth, married to the former Colleen Storey, and Martin L., married to the former Marianne Koch, both of Ruffs Dale, Pa.; Nima, wife of Donald Heagy, Delmont, Pa.; Daniel S., married to the former Laverne Rininger, Roanoke, Va.; and Mary Belle, wife of Howard Newcome, Brookville, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Brother of: Louella, widow of Harry Berkey, Jennerstown; the Rev. Ralph, Shrewsbury, Pa.; Leon, Mary, widow of Joseph Knesche, Katie, wife of Charles Hoffman, Erma, widow of Harvey May; Grace, John, Hazel, wife of Algie Mishler and James, all of Boswell RD 2; Daisy, widow of Charles Kocher, Johnstown; Harry, Somerset; and Mildred, wife of John Liska, Davidsville. Member of Jennerstown United Methodist Church. Retired United Methodist minister, having being licensed to preach since 1927. Served the following appointments, all in Pennsylvania, until his retirement in 1969: Crawford-Shenango, Porter Salem Pleasantville, Salix-Elton, Conemaugh, IndianaTamona and Indiana. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home 227 Allegheny St. Boswell. Body will be transferred to Jennerstown United Methodist Church for viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a m Saturday, with Pastors Donald C. Rudat and Harold L. Loveless officiating.
